How we work with our mountain athletes

1. Get to Know You

We will jump on a video call to get to know you better and understand your performance/event goals, health status, health status, history, movement needs, capabilities, as well as your day-to-day lifestyle.

2. Performance Plan

Once we know you as an athlete, we will customize a sport(s)-specific plan just for you and share it with you on TrueCoach. It will include testing, stretching, mobility work, strength work, endurance, and more.

3. Reconnecting

We will reconnect regularly to get a better understanding of your progress and make tweaks to your plan as needed. Performance evaluations will be key in making sure you are on your way to meeting your goals.

4. Injury Management

We will work with you to make sure that we are improving your chances of avoiding injury and if an injury happens, we will manage it and tweak your plan as needed so that you can continue to move forward.

When we have been away from the mountains for too long, we get antsy and go a little crazy ourselves. We get it!

We have combined our physio backgrounds with our experience as high-performing mountain athletes so that we can help others stay healthy and push themselves further on the mountain.

Meet the Team

Don Lesar

Don Lesar

Don belongs in the hills: rock climbing, splitboarding, mountain biking, trail running, camping, and anything that keeps him active in nature. Don acts as a rehabilitation and performance consultant for both the Arc’teryx Global Athlete Team and the Guide Team for Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing. With a heavy emphasis on education and tailored mobility, strength, power and stability training plans, he can ensure his athletes perform their best and recover optimally.

Jess Mahler

Jess Mahler

Jess feels at home ripping down mountains on her snowboard or traversing up them, often avoiding the easiest line. Jess provides ongoing education on rehabilitation, recovery, performance development and training for the Arc’teryx athlete team and continues to collaborate on injury rehabilitation and performance development for their sky runners, climbers, and snowsport athletes.

  • The Ibex Project team's natural ability to shift from instructor, coach, teacher of anatomy/physiology, advisor and friend has been instrumental for my rehabilitation process. After working with them I can definitively say that I have never felt such empowerment over my movement and ability to interpret my body’s signals to modulate my training- even while managing my current knee recovery.
